• Question: Why do you like beachs?

      Beaches are amazing places :-). The plants and animals that live on there are completely different to anything you’ll find elsewhere, because of the tide coming in and in every day. Imagine if you had to spend half your time underwater, and half completely out of it? It is an incredibly difficult thing to do.

      So loads of cool stuff lives on beaches: like anemones, that look like boiled sweeties stuck to rocks, but actually are vicious stinging predators that fight each other. Or barnacles, that wave their hairy legs in the water to catch little bits of food. Or even limpets, that lick rocks all day and have tongues made of the hardest material found across all of nature.

      When you find stuff in rockpools, it is like looking at an alien planet, because so much of it is weird and unusual to us. Sometimes I feel like a space scientist 🙂
