• Question: how old can a person get before they die

      The oldest person that ever lived (that we know of) was a French woman, who lived to be 122 years old!

      That might change though. People die because as their body gets older, more and more things go wrong. As we get better at medicine and stopping things going wrong, people can live longer and longer. At the moment, you are likely to live to be over 100.

      Maybe one day, we will stop people getting old at all!

      This is an age old question, some people tried to find ways to stop this happening!!
      Unfortunately all good things come to an end, but remarkably very little is known about ageing! All we can tell so far is that it is genetics that control this process. As Hannah says, the roof so far has been set at 122! So there’s still time for you to break it 😛

      The answer to this question has changed a lot in the last couple of hundred years. Our knowledge of how the human body works, whats good for us and whats not good for us as well as medical discoveries like antibiotics means that people live much longer now than they use too. Sadly, how long we live for still varies a lot depending on which country your from and how much money you have
