I try to be as “invisible” as possible, since I know that the presence of humans would affect the behaviour of the wildlife. I therefore try to figure out what animals do on the basis of their tracks, or pictures from camera traps that I set. In some cases I am able to catch the animals I study (I did that with the American mink), and put a collar on them, with a small device that records temperature and pressure. From that, I was able to find out whether the animals are on land, or in water, and what they might be doing.
