Yes, I have – several times, actually. I see adders quite often when walking through forests in Poland. In Australia I’ve seen a red-bellied black snake. When my family lived in Thailand, we’d see snakes pretty regularly – in fact, my dad almost sat on a cobra once! Last year I had two snake sightings. The first one was in Sweden, where I saw a grass snake swimming in a lake. The second one was in South Africa – we camped out in tents, and were hanging out by the fire, when one of my students said: “Don’t move! There’s a snake!” And fair enough, there it was – it crawled right between my feet, very chilled out! It was a red-lipped herald snake, so not a deadly one, still quite venomous though – we caught it (carefully!) and released it outside of the camp site.
