      For about 15 years professionally but it does go back further than that. My love of science goes back to when I was at school. I think if you like asking questions and finding out facts you are well on the way to being a scientist.

      If you mean “how long have you been paid to do science”, then the answer is about nine years. If you mean “how long have you been trying to find out more about the world around you”, then it’s much longer – probably since I was a toddler.

      Feels like ages! I first started my degree in science 12 years ago, so I would probably say I started properly then. Although it has taken a really long time for me to feel like a proper scientist, because I was so busy learning how to do it. Sometimes I still don’t feel like a real scientist…

      But like the others said, science is just about asking questions and finding out answers, so maybe I’ve always been a scientist. Did you know there is a scientific study done by primary school children on what colours bees like? It has been published in a real journal, so all of those children are real scientists. It doesn’t matter what age you are!
