My favourite scientist is Charles Darwin: I know that’s the case for a lot of ecologists, but it true!

He was brave to come up with the idea of evolution when no-one wanted to believe it, and stick to what he thought was true. He also got to go on all kinds of adventures on a ship and travel round the world, finding cool animals like giant tortoises and rare birds.

The science he did has completely changed how we think about animals and plants now, which is an amazing thing to do. He also did a lot of science with animals called barnacles that I do experiments with now, so I feel like I follow his work a lot!

I think I would choose Marie Curie, since she showed the world that the impossible is possible. She was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, the first person and only woman to win twice, and the only person to win twice in multiple sciences, chemistry and physics. She was also the first woman to become a professor at the University of Paris. Plus, she was Polish, like me 🙂
