      It depends. Everyone has a slightly different heart rate, depending on how tall or old or fit you are.
      On average, a human heart beats about 80 times a minute. If you do the maths, that’s about 42 million beats in one year. If you live to be 80, it will end up beating over 3 BILLION times!
      That’s not as many as some animals though. Tiny animals like mice have a heart beat of about 670 beats per minute: that’s over 8 times faster than a humans. At the other end of the scale, a blue whale’s heart only beats 6 times a minute…
