Question: Have you seen a hippopotamus?

I was very lucky to go to Botswana, in Southern Africa while I was working with rhinos in the desert. I was taken out by some local people at sunset, in a boats called mokoro, which are small wooden boats you move by using a big pole to push along the bottom.

We went to a big pool and hid at the edge, and were able to watch a family of hippos playing in the water as the sun went down. They are really odd looking but beautiful animals, and were great fun, splashing around and blowing bubbles under the water. I didn’t realise how huge they were until one got quite close…
