      It does, on two levels. On one level, if I trap an animal to put a collar with a radiotracking device on it, then of course that animal is affected a bit. On another level, once I find out enough information about a species or a group of species, I can change the way that animals are treated and managed by people – and that will affect them, too. For instance, I came up with a method that can be used by farmers in Africa to figure out whether they have jackals on their farms, and whether the numbers are increasing or decreasing. This can help them to manage their flocks of sheep properly, without shooting the jackals; and so as a result, there is a positive impact on the animals.
