I can honestly say I have never made a potion although I have worked with liquids that seem to be magic. Pheromones can be used to attract animals that you study – I once used pheromones to attract orchid bees in central America

Occasionally I do get to mix chemicals in a lab. Normally they are quite strong, so have to wear a labcoat and goggles, which makes me feel like a mad scientist. I have to do all the mixing in a big glass cabinet that stops all the fumes knocking me out. Unfortunately they very rarely bubble over or end up green, or do anything magical.

Yes, making potions is a very important day of my life. In the type of chemistry I do (wet chemistry) I’m always mixing liquids in flasks. They are not for drinking though, because most of them contain very dangerous chemicals for health.

I have not made any potions. My science is all done using computers 🙂
